This page is dedicated to answering questions about our
Troop and Boy Scouts in General.
Where can
I find information on the legal cases involving the Boy
Scouts of America?
How does my son join
Troop 44?
 | Contact any of the Troop 44
Committee Members, Scoutmaster, Assistant
Scoutmasters or simply come to our next Troop
meeting. Check the Home page of this site
for the date and time of our next meeting or outing. |
What age boys are involved in Cub Scouting?
 | Boys in
the first through fifth grades (or ages 7, 8, 9, or
10) may join a Cub Scout pack and be assigned to a den,
usually made up of boys in a neighborhood who form a
natural play group. Tiger Cub dens usually meet twice
a month, while Cub Scout and Webelos Scout den meetings
are usually held once a week. Once a month, all of the
dens and family members gather for a pack meeting under
the direction of a Cubmaster and Pack Committee. The
committee includes parents of boys in the pack, volunteers,
and members of the chartered organization.

When do boys leave Cub Scouting and
become Boy Scouts?
 | Boys in the fifth grade will be considered
Webelos II's which is the second year of the Webelos
Cub Scouting program which is designed to prepare the
boys to become Boy Scouts. Webelos is a 18
month program, not a 24 month program, and boys should be encouraged to cross
over to Boy Scouts as soon as they have completed
all the Webelos II requirements needed for
the Arrow of Light. When the boys are completed
with the Webelos program they will participate in a
Crossover ceremony where they are welcomed into a local
Boy Scout Troop, hopefully Troop 44, of their and their parents choosing.
Selection of the Troop your son will attend is an extremely
important one and factors such as; the quality of troop
leadership, activity level of the troop, parent involvement
level, troop size, a record of Scout advancement for
the boys, and Troop standing should be considered.
A quality Troop will ensure your son has an enjoyable
journey as he matures and progresses thru Scouting to
maybe one day become an Eagle Scout.

Minsi Trails webpage on the Forks of the Delaware

Does my son have to be a prior Cub
Scout to
become a Boy Scouts?
 | Absolutely not.
Many boys have come to Boy Scouts and went on to
become Eagle Scouts who have never been involved in
the Cub Scouting program. If your son is
interested, by all means bring him to a meeting or
outing so he can see what Boy Scouting is all about.
It is a decision will will never regret and neither
will he. |
